Weight Loss Supplements and Vitamins

iMetabolic® is a strong believer that vitamins and supplements are an integral part of not only periods of weight loss, but also ongoing weight maintenance and therefore offers a complete line of vitamins and supplements that we believe positively contributes to both periods of weight loss, as well as ongoing weight maintenance. In our busy lives, it is often difficult to get the correct vitamins and supplements in one’s diet. For this reason, vitamins and supplements must play a key role in overall health. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans in 2005, adults are often deficient in the following vitamins:

• Calcium
• Magnesium
• Vitamin A (as carotenoids)
• Vitamins C
• Vitamin E
• Vitamin D

Did you know the vast majority of patients who are tested prior to weight loss surgery are found to be chronically deficient in Vitamin D? This is readily attributed to the lifestyle that includes the frequent ingestion of fast food with few vegetables and in an ever increasingly sedentary spent largely indoors in front of the TV or computer.
Supplementing a good quality multi-vitamin can certainly help overcome vitamin deficiencies such those as mentioned above.

iMetabolic® also recommends supplements of Omega 3 for heart health. Omega 3’s show strong evidence that they contribute in lowering blood pressure and triglyceride levels. Both of which are key goals of weight loss. A few cautionary notes: Always check with your doctor before using supplements because some may interact with other drugs you take. Some people — including women who are pregnant or breastfeeding — should not take supplements other than prenatal vitamins. Ensure you purchase supplements that have a standardized dosage, approved by the USP (United States Pharmacopoeia), which means they contain 95% to 100% of the active ingredient.
