Dr. Kent C. Sasse, M.D., MPH, FACS, founded International Metabolic Institute to bring forward to individuals the state-of-the-art medical and scientific principles of physiologic weight reduction. Dr. Sasse is the author of numerous books and publications, and a featured speaker nationally in the field of weight reduction, bariatric medicine and surgery. Dr. Sasse completed his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of California San Diego where he graduated cum laude. He completed his medical education at the University of California San Francisco, where he was honored with several awards, including membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Society for top medical graduates in the country. He earned two Master’s degrees from the University of California Berkeley, including a Master’s in Public Health stemming from research related to biostatistics and bioethics. He went on to complete Residency training in Surgery at the University of California San Francisco, where he focused on gastrointestinal surgery and physiology. He later completed Fellowship training at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts, before relocating to beautiful northern Nevada to develop his practice.

Dr. Sasse founded Western Bariatric Institute, a nationally recognized surgical weight loss center and ASBS Center of Excellence, where he serves as medical director. Dr. Sasse dedicates himself to compassionate, thoughtful, and individualized care of the patient. He has written and pursues several IRB-approved research protocols regarding weight loss and weight loss surgery. He lectures frequently at the University of Nevada School of Medicine on topics related to weight reduction and obesity. As founder and Medical Director of iMetabolic, Dr. Sasse brings a wealth of experience in the field to the development of the highest quality medically-supervised weight reduction program. Michael J. Bloch, M.D.

Dr. Michael Bloch is Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and the designer and Medical Director of the innovative Risk Reduction Center at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, both located in Reno, Nevada.

Dr. Bloch’s undergraduate degree is from Princeton University, and he earned his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, DC. He subsequently completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, where he also completed a Fellowship in hypertension and vascular medicine.

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Bloch has been designated a Clinical Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension and a Clinical Lipid Specialist by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is also Fellow in the Society of Vascular Medicine and Biology.

As principal investigator on several clinical trials, Dr. Bloch’s research has focused on the diagnosis and management of renovascular disease and exploring novel means of overcoming barriers to hypertension and dyslipidemia control. He is also a sub-investigator for the landmark Women’s Health Initiative. Dr. Bloch currently writes a monthly column for the Journal of Clinical Hypertension, and his work has been published in multiple journals and textbooks.

Dr. Kristina Hansen graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a degree in Nutrition. While at UC Berkeley she completed a 2 year clinical dietetics internship and became a registered dietitian in 1990. She then went on to medical school at Albany Medical College in New York and completed her family medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina.

Kristina has a special interest in Nutrition and Women’s Health issues. In addition to practicing family medicine, she has lectured to physicians across the country on depression, anxiety, menopause, osteoporosis, tobacco addiction, obesity, and other nutrition related topics. Kristina has a genuine interest in childhood obesity which led her to receive a special certificate of training in child and adolescent weight management.




Pam Corson, M.D.

Pam Corson M.D. grew up in Indiana. She graduated from Miami University in Ohio and received her Doctorate of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine. She pursued a residency in Emergency Medicine at Los Angeles County/University Southern California Medical Center and served as chief resident during her final year. After training, Dr. Corson worked mainly in inner city urban hospitals where she focused primarily on the care of the indigent population. She has maintained an interest in the health, nutrition and preventative care of all patients but especially women and children. It is this interest which has led her to the International Metabolic Institute where she serves as a dedicated provider of compassionate and caring medicine.

After completing his undergraduate studies from the University of Nevada in Reno where he majored in Psychology, Dr. Mayville went on to attain his Masters of Arts degree from the University of the Pacific and his Ph.D from Louisiana State University.

He is a licensed clinical psychologist and board certified behavior analyst that provides psychological services to adults, children, and families in Northern Nevada.

He has successfully treated patients in many areas including:
Anxiety, depression, anger/aggression, behavioral excesses and deficits associated with developmental disabilities, marital problems, eating disorders, assertiveness problems, and family conflict.




Dr. Brie Moore

Dr. Brie Moore received her Master's in Child Development from the University of California, Davis and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno. She completed her internship at the University of California, Los Angeles at the Matell Children's Hospital. Dr. Moore is currently a Nevada Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She provides psychological and behavioral health services to children, families, couples, and adults. She treats a wide variety of psychological and behavioral disorders in children and families.

Dr. Moore specializes in the treatment of childhood depression, anxiety, and noncompliance. She also helps children, adults, and families make the lifestyle changes necessary to prevent and treat obesity. Dr. Moore is the creator of Fit and Healthy Kids, an internet-based weight loss program, and an editor of the Handbook of Pediatric and Adolescent Obesity Treatment.
